What We Believe

The following are the core beliefs of Progression Church based on the foundational truths taught in the Bible. All of our teaching and ministry is rooted in and flows out of these biblical.

Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He is co-equal with the Father. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all men by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven and will return again to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Since man couldn’t save himself, God the Father graciously responded by sending God the Son to make a way for mankind. The blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the only way of salvation through the forgiveness of sin. Salvation occurs when people place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin. Salvation is a gift from God, and it cannot be earned through our own efforts.

Man is made in the image of God and is the supreme object of His creation. Man was created to have fellowship with God but became separated in that relationship through sin As a result, man cannot attain a right relationship with God through his own effort but can with a real relationship with Christ as his Lord and Savior.

The Church

Our communal God created us all with a craving for community. The local church is the Jesus created organization that Christians engage in to experience Biblical community, use their talents and gifts to bring God glory, and collectively share the gospel to change their cities and ultimately the world. The Church consists of baptized believers unified through faith in Christ. The Church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ

The Trinity

The Fall

God has existed in relationship with Himself for all eternity. He exists as one substance in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Each member of the Trinity serves different functions, but they each possess equal power and authority.
When Adam and Eve chose not to obey God, they ceased to be what they were made to be and became distorted images of God. This caused them to fall out of fellowship with God, and fractured all of creation ever since that time.

The Bible

We believe the Bible is truly God’s Word. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. Since we believe it was inspired by God, we wholeheartedly believe the Bible is truth without any mixture of error and is very relevant to our daily lives
Man was created for eternity. He will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. Hell and Heaven are real places. God desires for all men to be saved but man will only be saved by God’s grace through faith in His Son Jesus Christ.
